Amrydhwen

Background:
Amrydhwen is Rhyl and Angwyn's mother. Her family wasn't of the old nobility, so some people looked down on her for that. By her time period, though, most titles of nobility were nothing more than a name, anyway, so it didn't make much of a difference. She studied magic at the Tower of Llyr and was a slightly above-average student.
Personality:
She's a little childish at times. Sometimes she's a bit of a show-off with her magic; given a choice, she prefers spells that are flashy or visually impressive over simples spells that work just as well.
History:
Amrydhwen had a pretty average life until one afternoon when she met Lluryf. (insert cheesy dramatic music here) I'm not sure exactly what happened yet, but it involved Lluryf being an idiot and getting mad at Amrydhwen because she didn't like him. I don't think he actually believed it was possible for women to not fall madly in love with him before that. For some reason, it seemed like a good idea for him to sneak into her room at the Tower, hold a knife to her throat, and try to convince her that she did in fact love him and she was just in denial. Fortunately, there was another student nearby, Celyn, who heard her screaming and went to investigate. He attacked Lluryf, allowing Amrydhwen to escape, and they managed to overpower him together. Lluryf was banished from Cylramos for attempted rape and murder, and Amrydhwen fell in love with Celyn and they lived happily ever after. For a while.
Lluryf was pretty much presumed dead, because it was very difficult to survive outside of the walls of a city, due to the nature of the shadow-world. Unfortunately, he survived, and two or three centuries later killed Celyn, making it look like an accident. Amrydhwen was deeply saddened, but she lived on for her children Angwyn and Rhyl. About ten to fifteen years later, Lluryf revealed himself and kidnapped Rhyl in order to hurt Amrydhwen. Angwyn went after her, only to be captured himself. Because of how powerful Lluryf seemed to be, no one else in Cylramos dared to go after him. Lluryf kept in contact with Amrydhwen occasionally, to tell her what he's been doing to her children. She eventually sinks into total depression and dies of guilt and sadness.

Physical description:
Amrydhwen has long, straight, dark blond hair. She usually wears about half of it pulled back to keep it out of her face. Her eyes are a sort of greyish-blue (which in my experience, most people just call "blue" anyway. Hers are a touch more on the grey side, though.) She's pretty, I suppose, but not really unusually so; she's pretty much average in every way. In the past, she usually wears dresses in the colors of the Tower of Llyr, brown and blue. She almost always wears long skirts.

Author's perspective:
Amrydhwen was created to give Lluryf a motive, so he wasn't just a generic bad guy, evil for evil's sake. Lately, though, I'm starting to feel like I've given this story far more angst than I ever intended.
