Tranquil's Daolio



All of Tranquil's characters are unique and interesting, so it was really hard to decide who to draw. I ended up choosing Daolio, a goddess of rebirth and equality, who weeps over the suffering caused by inequality in the world. Unfortunately, her solution was to make everyone equal in death, and she was eventually sealed away and forgotten.
I don't think I've ever spent as much time on a picture as I did on this one--partly because Daolio's outfit is so complex, and I wanted to make sure I got everything right. I also tried a few new techniques, especially on coloring the hair (thanks to ChayPeta for her comments in the forum), and used a photograph from a fashion magazine as a reference for part of the pose.
